We engage consultants, contractors and service providers that give us competitive pricing without compromising on quality. Jobs that usually required 2 months to complete are now being done within a week. Employees are empowered to ask questions, make recommendations and continuously change things for the better. All our divisional heads are role models who have been inculcated to take ownership and possession of their respective business unit and recognition is given for outstanding performance. These characteristics provide the foundations on which we are building EcoFirst Group into an exemplary organization. We are performance driven and results oriented, and our commitment to a team-work atmosphere provides the cohesiveness and corporate culture to be the market leader in value creation.

 

I hope you will have noticed some changes in EcoFirst Group over the last 12 months. We have achieved several milestones at the Group level including but not limited to the following:

1)   
South City Plaza (SCP). The transformation of SCP has indeed been very challenging yet rewarding from the social, cultural and financial perspectives. The footprint in SCP has improved over the last 2 years. At present, SCP is home to the largest hand phone accessories and China products in the country.

2)   
1Segamat Mall. 1Segamat has been enjoying 100% occupancy rates for the last 2 years. We are planning to extend an additional level due to persistent high demand for rental space. We are the only mall in Johor whereby DYMM Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar patronized 3 times in 2013. 1Segamat also has the distinction to be officiated by DYMM Sultan Ibrahim on 25 August 2013. We are creating a shopping environment of a different kind.

3)   
Property Development division under Curah Bahagia Sdn Bhd. Property development has been promising. Our maiden project comprising 260 units of shophouses at Taipan@Ipoh Cybercentre and Festiva Mall@ Ipoh were fully sold.

Up and coming developments:-
a) Jalan Golf Kelab, Ipoh comprising 529 units of exclusive high end condominiums is targeted to be launched in August 2014.
b) Ampang Heights, Ulu Kelang. Phase 1 commercial development is expected to be launched Q1 2015.

4)   
CSR Activities. Our CSR framework adopts the top down approach to embrace the social benefits and values. Over the years both SCP and 1Segamat have been the Group’s centers for many of our CSR activities. We concentrate our CSR efforts to improve the lives of communities living within the vicinity of our malls. It is my firm belief that creating social value is a prerequisite for creating business value.

5)   
The incubation and transformation of the Group’s mineral resources division is nearing the end. Be prepared to expect the unexpected.
